About the role
This is a senior, hands-on position with responsibility for the day-to-day management, development and growth of BMC's earthworks and civil construction operations. The successful applicant will oversee projects from the initial client enquiry and quoting stage through to planning, mobilisation, construction and completion. You will work closely with BMC management while taking ownership of earthworks operations, including clients, staff, machinery, scheduling, project costs, safety and job performance. This is not simply a role maintaining an existing workload. BMC is actively looking to expand the scale and scope of earthworks operation and move into new areas of civil construction and infrastructure work. For an enthusiastic and driven individual, this is an opportunity to have genuine input into how the division develops, including the types of projects pursued, how operations are structured and where future growth opportunities are identified.

Key responsibilities

- Manage BMC's earthworks and civil construction projects from start to finish
- Conduct site inspections and assess upcoming work
- Prepare job scopes, estimates and quotations
- Liaise directly with clients regarding project requirements, progress and variations
- Plan and schedule operators, machinery and resources across multiple projects
- Coordinate mobilisation and movement of plant between job sites
- Supervise excavator operators and other personnel
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time and to specification
- Monitor job costs, productivity, labour and machinery utilisation
- Identify and manage project variations and additional works About you
- Previous experience in civil construction, earthworks,



irrigation infrastructure or a similar management role
- Strong practical understanding of excavation and earthmoving operations
- Experience managing projects, operators and heavy machinery
- Ability to estimate and quote earthworks projects
- Good understanding of job costing, productivity and project profitability
- Ability to read construction plans, levels and specifications
- Knowledge of drainage, grading and bulk earthworks
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and client management skills
- Strong understanding of WHS and construction site requirements
