General Manager of Product
Location:
Sydney or Melbourne | Hybrid Package: Up to $400k base + bonus + super The Prospect: This Australian FinTech has built a strong market position, an extensive customer base and a portfolio of software products serving complex business needs. With serious investment and executive backing committed, the focus now is on what comes next: where the business invests, how its products evolve, and how technology can deliver more value to customers. It's a role where innovation meets commercial reality, and every decision lands on customers, revenue and long-term growth. The Role:
- Reporting directly to the CEO, the GM of Product will own the next phase of product direction and growth, across both major new initiatives and the core product.
- You'll lead a team with deep industry knowledge, bringing fresh thinking, stronger product discipline and a explicit sense of where to focus.
- The challenge is knowing what to preserve, what to improve and where to invest for the greatest commercial return. What you'll be doing:
- Turn a clear direction into a prioritised, credible roadmap, working closely with engineering leadership to weigh platform evolution, new capabilities and customer needs
- Decide where to invest, simplify or retire, tied to transparent product economics and measurable outcomes
- Own pricing, monetisation and go-to-market inputs, making sure customers see clear value in what they pay for
- Partner with the executive team to test growth opportunities and turn commercial priorities into practical product plans
- Build a high-performing product and design organisation, developing existing talent and strengthening product management capability
- Apply AI, automation and new technology where it creates real customer value and competitive advantage What you'll bring:
- Extensive product leadership in FinTech, financial services technology or enterprise software, ideally across wealth, banking, payments, lending, insurance or other regulated environments
- End-to-end product ownership, from customer and market insight through to pricing, launch and in-market performance
- Proven experience evolving complex, business-critical platforms without losing sight of customers or commercial priorities
- Strong technical judgment: the credibility to push back on engineering, assess feasibility and tell months of work from years
- Experience working alongside a separately managed engineering organisation, influencing priorities without owning the reporting line
- A track record of building high-performing product and design teams and developing senior talent
- Executive presence, with the confidence to challenge a CEO, communicate trade-offs and make difficult decisions through ambiguity Confidentiality:
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before receiving detailed information about the business and its plans. Apply now or reach out for a confidential discussion. ?:
