Disability Support Worker – Hawthorn

Supporting a Teenager with Complex Disabilities | Casual / Part-Time

CarePro is seeking a compassionate, experienced and reliable Disability Support Worker to support a teenager living in Hawthorn with complex medical needs and disabilities, including Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and PEG feeding requirements.

We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive and confident providing person-centred support in a home environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting young people with complex needs while promoting their comfort, dignity, safety and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide companionship and meaningful engagement suited to the participant's age, interests and communication needs.
- Assist with meal preparation and household tasks, maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
- Support the participant's daily routines and individual needs in accordance with their care plans.
- Provide PEG feeding support where trained, assessed as competent and authorised to do so.
- Monitor the participant's wellbeing and promptly report any changes in their medical condition.
- Follow all relevant medical instructions, risk assessments, emergency procedures and infection control requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the family and CarePro team to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
- Complete accurate shift notes and report incidents or concerns in accordance with CarePro policies.

Essential Requirements

- Previous experience supporting children or teenagers with complex disabilities and medical needs.




- Experience supporting individuals with Level 3 ASD and high support needs.
- PEG feeding experience is essential, with the ability to demonstrate appropriate training and competency.
- Proficient spoken and written English to communicate clearly with the participant's family, healthcare professionals and CarePro team, and to accurately document support.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant disability, individual support or healthcare qualifications.
- Solid understanding of safeguarding, infection control, duty of care and person-centred support.
- Reliable, patient, attentive and able to follow detailed care plans and instructions.

They must be comfortable working in a family home, respect privacy and confidentiality, and be able to follow established routines and medical support protocols.
