The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Technical Lead to oversee and deliver the next phase of development of Yapify's mobile application.

An initial technical foundation has already been established. Working closely with our founding team, you will assess the existing application, define development priorities and lead the technical implementation of agreed features and functionality.

This is a two-month project engagement suited to a senior developer with strong technical ownership, sound engineering judgement and demonstrated experience delivering mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess the existing mobile application codebase, architecture and development status.
- Define technical requirements, development priorities and achievable project milestones.
- Lead and contribute directly to the design, development and integration of mobile application features.
- Develop and maintain integrations with relevant APIs and back-end services.
- Make technical decisions relating to application architecture, performance, security and maintainability.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to improve engineering productivity and delivery efficiency.
- Implement appropriate testing, debugging and code review practices to maintain software quality.
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies and delivery issues.
- Collaborate with the founding team to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and complete an appropriate handover of the delivered work.

Skills & Experience

Essential





- Substantial commercial experience in mobile application development, including senior-level technical responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering mobile applications.
- Robust hands-on programming skills and a sound understanding of mobile application architecture.
- Experience reviewing, maintaining and extending existing software codebases.
- Experience with API integration, back-end connectivity, testing and application deployment processes.
- Ability to independently assess technical requirements, make informed engineering decisions and manage delivery priorities.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted software development tools and an understanding of their appropriate use in production development.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Proven ability to deliver quality technical outcomes within agreed project timelines.
- Availability to collaborate with the team in Melbourne.

Highly Regarded

- Professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin.
- Understanding of Xiaohongshu (RED) and the broader Chinese digital ecosystem.
- Experience developing community, social networking or lifestyle mobile applications.
- Experience delivering mobile applications from development through to production release.
- Experience working in startup or early-stage product environments.
