About OlympusTech

Olympus Technology Services is an Australian owned IT Services business headquartered in the Parramatta CBD with a presence across Australia. We are a dynamic and rapidly growing business, focused on technical excellence and a deep understanding of our customers' needs. We have a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers and consultants that design, build and support key infrastructure solutions for our clients across industries including healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, education, government, construction and transport.

At Olympus Technology Services, our people are at the centre of everything we do. We're a growing Australian technology services business that helps organisations across the country get more from technology through managed services, cloud, cyber security, and modern workplace solutions.

About this role

We’re looking for an experienced Network Architect to join our Professional Services team in Sydney.

This is not a design-only architecture role. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their requirements, design enterprise network solutions and then remain actively involved in implementing and delivering them.

The role is approximately 80% billable, with at least half of that billable time expected to involve hands-on project and implementation work. You’ll be comfortable moving between architecture and detailed design, customer workshops, configuration, migration, testing and troubleshooting.

Cisco is at the centre of our networking capability, so we’re looking for someone with deep Cisco expertise and at least CCNP-level certification. At the same time, our customers operate multi-vendor environments, so experience with technologies from vendors such as NVIDIA, Juniper Networks, Arista Networks or HPE Networking will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead discovery and design workshops with customer IT stakeholders.

- Assess existing network environments and develop practical, supportable solution designs.

- Design enterprise campus, WAN, data centre and network security solutions.

- Produce high-level and low-level designs covering scope, dependencies, assumptions, risks and exclusions.

- Lead and directly participate in network implementations, migrations, upgrades and complex changes.

- Undertake hands-on configuration, testing, troubleshooting and remediation during project delivery.

- Maintain approximately 80% billable utilisation, with at least half of billable time focused on hands-on project and implementation delivery.

- Present and explain network solutions to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders.

- Support Presales with technical designs, estimates, proposals and statement of work content.

- Ensure implemented solutions align with the agreed architecture and are documented and handed over effectively to Managed Services.

- Act as a senior escalation point for complex networking issues where required.

- Contribute to network standards, reference architectures and design templates.

- Mentor network engineers and build capability through design reviews and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Experience

- Extensive enterprise networking experience across architecture, design, implementation and troubleshooting.

- Strong hands-on Cisco networking expertise across switching, routing, wireless and enterprise network technologies.

- Experience with technologies such as Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Meraki, SD-WAN and ISE.

- Strong routing and switching knowledge, including BGP, OSPF, QoS and high-availability design.

- Experience with data centre networking and technologies such as VXLAN EVPN or Cisco ACI.

- Experience delivering complex network implementations and migrations in a hands-on technical capacity.

- Current CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center or relevant CCIE certification.

- Understanding of, or experience with, networking technologies outside Cisco, such as NVIDIA, Juniper Networks, Arista Networks or HPE Networking.

- Experience producing high-level and low-level design documentation for enterprise projects.

- Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts and design decisions clearly.

- Experience with enterprise network security, segmentation, firewalls and secure access technologies.

- Exposure to Microsoft Azure and/or AWS networking and hybrid connectivity.

- Experience within an MSP, systems integrator or comparable enterprise technology environment.

Experience with AI and high-performance networking technologies, including GPU cluster fabrics, lossless Ethernet or RoCE, would be advantageous. Additional certifications across CCIE/CCDE, NVIDIA, Juniper, Arista, HPE Networking, network security, cloud networking or network automation would also be highly regarded.

Place in the Business

The Network Architect sits within our Professional Services team and reports to the CTO, working closely with Presales and Managed Services.

You’ll provide architectural leadership on customer engagements while remaining directly involved in delivery. The role has no direct reports, but you’ll be expected to mentor network engineers, share specialist knowledge and help strengthen OlympusTech’s networking capability.

Other Details

- Permanent, full-time position.

- Sydney-based hybrid role.

- Travel to customer, partner, vendor and OlympusTech locations may be required.

- Some planned changes and project work may take place outside standard business hours.

- Background screening and customer-specific site access requirements may apply.

If you’re an experienced network skilled who enjoys architecture but still wants to be hands-on with the technology, we’d like to hear from you.
