Take Ownership of a Up-to-date Rail Plant Hire Fleet

Manco Rail Hire is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Service Manager to take responsibility for the servicing, maintenance and ongoing compliance of our modern fleet of heavy vehicles, hi-rail equipment and elevated work platforms (EWPs).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys working independently, managing their own schedule and taking ownership of their responsibilities without constant supervision.

Our fleet consists of modern, specialised rail maintenance equipment operating across various Australian rail networks.

About the Role

You will be responsible for ensuring our equipment remains safe, compliant, reliable and available to meet our clients' operational requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing and carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs across our fleet of heavy vehicles, rail plant and EWPs.

- Independently planning and managing your daily workload, service schedules and client commitments.

- Liaising directly with clients to coordinate equipment servicing, maintenance and operational requirements.

- Working closely with equipment OEMs, engineering teams and rail network operators to ensure equipment compliance and maintenance standards are achieved.

- Managing maintenance records, service documentation, inspections and equipment compliance requirements.

- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults and coordinating repairs where required.

- Proactively identifying maintenance requirements to minimise downtime and maximise fleet availability.

About You

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates professionally and has the confidence to manage their own responsibilities.





Essential requirements:

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (Diesel Mechanic) or equivalent recognised qualification.

- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience.

- Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills.

- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients, suppliers and network operators.

- Current driver's licence.

Experience with elevated work platforms, rail-mounted equipment or specialised heavy vehicles will be highly regarded, although training and OEM support can be provided.
