Brisbane, QLD | Full-Time | Competitive Salary Package
Lead the Build of Australia's Next Generation of Intelligent Heavy Vehicles
Russ Environmental is a proudly Australian manufacturer with over 65 years of history in the waste and environmental equipment industry.
We are entering an exciting new chapter, combining decades of proven engineering with modern technology to develop and manufacture some of the most advanced and intelligent heavy vehicle bodies in the industry.
Our expanding product range includes waste collection vehicles, hydraulic compactors, specialised truck bodies and cutting-edge environmental equipment, incorporating advanced electrical, hydraulic and automated control systems.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Working Foreman / Production Supervisor to join our growing Brisbane manufacturing team.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the workshop floor, leading by example and taking pride in delivering high-quality, technically advanced equipment.
About the Role
This is a genuine hands-on leadership position, combining production coordination, technical problem-solving and quality assurance.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of our vehicle builds, ensuring production progresses efficiently, engineering designs are followed and our finished products meet the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and overseeing the complete manufacturing and assembly process of specialised heavy vehicle bodies.
- Managing daily workshop activities and coordinating staff across fabrication, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical departments.
- Working alongside our tradespeople on the workshop floor to assist with assembly, fitment, troubleshooting and final commissioning.
- Ensuring builds are completed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and approved designs.
- Implementing and maintaining quality assurance processes throughout each stage of production.
- Coordinating external suppliers, subcontractors and specialist service providers to ensure components and services are delivered on schedule.
- Identifying production bottlenecks and implementing practical solutions to improve efficiency.
- Working closely with our engineering and design teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and continuously improve our products.
- Maintaining a safe, organised and productive workshop environment.
- Monitoring build progress and ensuring delivery commitments are achieved.
About You
We are looking for a practical, technically capable leader who is equally comfortable coordinating a team as they are picking up tools and getting involved in a build.
Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience in heavy vehicle manufacturing, truck body building, fabrication or a similar engineering environment.
- Previous experience as a Working Foreman, Leading Hand, Workshop Supervisor or Production Manager.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a sound understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate designs into finished products.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades, suppliers and production activities.
- A strong focus on workmanship, quality assurance and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership and make decisions.
A trade qualification in fabrication, mechanical engineering or a related field will be highly regarded.
Experience with waste collection vehicles, hydraulic equipment or specialised truck body manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.
What We Offer
- Competitive remuneration package based on experience and capability.
- A key leadership role within a growing Australian manufacturing business.
- The chance to work on modern, technologically advanced heavy vehicle equipment.
- Direct involvement with our engineering and product development teams.
- A hands-on position with genuine responsibility and decision-making authority.
- The prospect to influence production processes, product quality and future manufacturing improvements.
- Long-term career opportunities as our business and product range continue to expand.
More Than Just a Workshop Foreman
At Russ Environmental, we are not simply building traditional truck bodies. We are developing a new generation of intelligent, automated and highly engineered equipment.
