Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance | Melbourne
My client is an energy infrastructure organisation playing a central role in delivering transmission and renewable energy infrastructure for Australia’s energy transition. They are taking on expanded statutory and regulatory functions, and they need a Legal Counsel to help shape how they manage their own obligations.
What you’ll be doing
Advising on regulatory, governance, administrative law and statutory compliance matters
Designing and uplifting the legal and regulatory compliance framework, including obligations registers, policies and breach reporting
Supporting compliance monitoring for a current grid access regime
Leading public sector compliance across FOI, privacy, procurement probity and integrity
Partnering with the enterprise risk team and reporting to the Executive, Board and Audit and Risk Committee
What you’ll bring
Admission as an Australian lawyer, with around 4 to 8 years’ PQE
Regulatory, compliance or governance experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure or government
Hands-on experience building compliance frameworks, not just advising on them
Knowledge of the NEM, transmission or energy regulation is a solid advantage, but not essential
Why it’s worth a look
Genuine impact on the infrastructure replacing ageing coal generation
Board and Executive visibility early on
A growing team, ongoing role and hybrid working
