About The Position HumanAbility is a Jobs and Skills Council for the health, human services, aged care and disability, sport & recreation and early childhood industries.

HumanAbility’s objective is to advance education by supporting skills and workforce development for the above specified industries. It is a values-based organisation, that is not-for-profit, industry-owned and led, that is contracted by the federal government.

We have an prospect for a Communications Coordinator to join us on a full time basis in an ongoing capacity subject to funding (currently funded until mid-2028). The role may be located anywhere in Australia and will involve travel with overnight stays for organisation meetings, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and industry events.

Key Accountabilities

Identify, plan and create content for HumanAbility’s communications channels, including social, digital and newsletters

Translate complex technical, policy and workforce content into plain English that suits the target audience

Draft communication materials with clarity, accuracy, and consistency





Ensure all content is accessible and appropriate for diverse audiences, including industry stakeholders and the public

Work closely with other teams as directed to align communications across our sectors

Assist in the development or commissioning of multimedia content, including videos and graphics, as required

Observe and followwork health, safety and wellbeing policies and guidelines

Qualifications and Experience

Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or similar or demonstrated equivalent experience

Experience working in a Communications team, preferably within a not-for-profit or government sector

Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organisational and project management skills

Demonstrated proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms and Monday.com (or similar)

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple stakeholders
