Ignition is growing and growing consistently. As we scale our platform to serve more tier-1 financial institutions across Australia, the UK, and Europe, we're expanding our engineering team to match that ambition.
This isn't a role where you maintain the status quo. Research and development is embedded in how we build, we continuously explore and implement modern techniques and patterns across our microservices and event-driven platform. If you want to work on meaningful financial technology problems with a team that values engineering rigour and moves fast without cutting corners, this is that opportunity.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead development of recent features across the core financial advice platform, from design through to delivery
- Contribute to architecture decisions in close collaboration with the Principal Engineer
- Design and implement services within our microservices and event-driven architecture
- Apply and champion engineering practices including TDD, trunk-based development, and continuous delivery
- Own automated testing across unit, integration, and E2E as a core part of your development workflow
- Actively participate in code reviews, raising the quality bar across the team
- Contribute to the evolution of engineering standards, design patterns, and development practices
- Play an active role in DevOps including CI/CD pipeline management, platform work, and incident response
- Share knowledge and experience with colleagues, informally mentoring and supporting the growth of those around you
You will bring
- 10+ years of development experience with C# and .NET (including .NET 6+)
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures,
applying a database-per-service model across polyglot data stores
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services including DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and Aurora Serverless (PostgreSQL)
- Strong understanding of API design including REST and gRPC
- Experience with observability practices including structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics
- Security-conscious development with a sound understanding of authentication, authorisation, and secure coding standards
- Experience with Docker and containerised workloads
- Experience with third-party integrations and common integration patterns
- Deep knowledge of software design patterns and engineering best practices
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing across unit, integration, and E2E
- Familiarity with the Atlassian toolset including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams
On any given day you might…..
- Contribute to a daily async standup over Slack, keeping aligned with team members
- Join a bi-daily team catchup to share progress, raise blockers, and align on what you need from each other
- Develop new features and improvements across existing services, with occasional new service creation on a per-needs basis
- Review a pull request, giving considered feedback that raises the quality of the codebase
- POC a new feature or explore a modern pattern as part of an R&D; spike
- Work through a complex technical problem independently, pulling in the Principal Engineer when you need a sounding board
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements or help respond to a production issue
- Sync with the frontend or client delivery team to align on an integration point
