Part-Time / Casual Position | Potential Permanent Employment

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Excavator / Machine Operator and a Site Manager to join our construction team on a part-time / casual basis.

Our projects predominantly involve concrete preparation and placement, including industrial and commercial concrete slabs, foundations and associated civil works. Our depot is located in Bentleigh East, with projects throughout metropolitan Melbourne.

We are looking for a mature, self-motivated and hands-on operator who takes pride in their work, can work independently and is willing to assist with general civil construction duties when required.

Machine Operator

Essential Requirements

- Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar civil construction or machine operating role.

- Proven experience operating 3.5 to 15-tonne excavators and Bobcats.

- Competent using attachments including buckets, rippers, hydraulic breakers and pendulum boring equipment.

- Current HC Driver's Licence, White Card , Forklift Ticket and Crane Truck ticket.

- Ability to accurately set levels and work from construction drawings.

- Experience in site preparation, excavation and general civil construction.

- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.

- Good communication skills and ability to work within a small team.

- Reliable, punctual, organised and safety-conscious.

- Professional attitude and willingness to assist with site works.

Duties

- Safely load, secure, transport, unload and deliver machinery, equipment and attachments to and from construction sites.Operate excavators, Bobcats and associated equipment.

- Assist with site establishment and preparation.

- Carry out excavation, trenching, boring and general earthworks.

- Set and check levels for civil and concrete construction.

- Able to undertake general on-site labouring duties and assist team when machinery operation is not required.

- Maintain machinery and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.

SITE / PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and hands-on Site / Project Manager capable of independently managing construction projects from commencement through to completion.

This position would suit a practical construction professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and our construction team while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently plan, coordinate and manage construction projects from site establishment through to completion and handover.

- Supervise subcontractors, trades, suppliers and site personnel, ensuring efficient site operations.

- Manage construction programmes, procurement, project costs, variations and progress claims.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation.

- Oversee excavation, formwork, reinforcement, concrete placement and associated civil and structural works.

- Ensure all works comply with applicable Australian Standards , the National Construction Code , approved engineering designs and relevant building regulations.

- Maintain site safety, quality assurance, inspections, testing and compliance documentation.

- Identify and resolve construction issues, manage defects and ensure quality workmanship.

- Liaise with clients, engineers, consultants and subcontractors, maintaining accurate site records and progress reports.

About You





- Minimum 10 years' experience in a Site Manager, Construction Supervisor or Project Manager role.

- Strong background in commercial building, industrial concrete construction and civil works.

- Demonstrated ability to independently manage construction projects from commencement to completion.

- Sound technical understanding of excavation, formwork, reinforcement, concrete placement and structural construction.

- Thorough knowledge of applicable Australian Standards, construction specifications, quality assurance procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and identify construction discrepancies.

- Experience coordinating subcontractors, site personnel and construction programmes.

- Solid organisational, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

- Commercial awareness, including cost control, procurement and variations.

- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and project management software.

- Current Construction Induction White Card and Victorian Driver's Licence.

- Reliable, self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Highly Regarded

- Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Building, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

- Experience with industrial machine foundations, reinforced concrete slabs and structural concrete works.

- Experience working within operational industrial facilities and commercial premises.

- Experience preparing construction methodologies, SWMS, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality assurance documentation.

- Experience managing building permits, engineering inspections and project handover documentation.
