About the role

Precision Oxycut is seeking an experienced Afternoon Shift Supervisorto join our team in Smithfield, NSW. This is a full time position that plays a vital role in maintaining operational excellence during afternoon shift hours. As Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, leading a team of and ensuring that all activities meet our high standards for safety, quality and productivity. This position is integral to the success of our manufacturing, transport and logistics operations, directly impacting our ability to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Hours of work

2:00pm to 10:30pm Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities

- Drive and enforce full compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations across the site.
- Promote a proactive safety culture for all employees, contractors, and visitors, including managing emergency responses and environmental impacts.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily operations and dispatch activities to optimise resources and meet customer demands.
- Oversee the safe operation and basic preventative maintenance of all machinery, including but not limited to forklifts, and material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free production facility and yard through regular safety audits.
- Monitor all incoming and outgoing materials to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Review, improve, and champion quality assurance processes and proactively address concerns.
- Schedule shifts and assign tasks effectively to maximise workflow efficiency.
- Oversee employee onboarding, practical on-the-job training and performance feedback.
- Manage performance issues fairly and support return-to-work plans for injured team members.
- Prepare and analyse dispatch reports to maximise throughput and drive down operational costs.
- Implement day-to-day operational goals that align with monthly financial and budgetary targets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all safety and operational practices.




- Track machine efficiencies and collaborate closely with operators to maximise equipment performance.
- Coordinate scheduled machine maintenance windows, reallocating work as needed to maintain production timelines.
- Oversee and analyse regular inventory cycle counts to maintain high stock accuracy.

What we're looking for

- Proven metal/manufacturing/mining leadership with a minimum of three (3) years in supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in industrial settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making under pressure
- Experience with performance management and staff development
- Flexibility to work afternoon shift hours on a consistent basis
- A commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in supervision, leadership or occupational health and safety are highly desirable
