Ready for a new opportunity in 2027? Love leading people, building strong teams and helping others do their best work?
At Biologic, our people are at the heart of the work we do. As our Vertebrate Fauna team continues to grow, we’ve designed the Associate Manager – Vertebrate Fauna role to strengthen the leadership, support and development we provide to our people.
Commencing in mid-January 2027, you’ll help lead and support a passionate team of zoologists, bringing people together around a shared purpose and creating a culture built on collaboration, respect, curiosity and shared accountability. You’ll support people to grow, contribute their expertise and deliver meaningful work that helps achieve better biodiversity outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who is excellent with people, communicates well and knows how to bring a team together. Someone who can coach and support others, create clarity when things get busy, and build an environment where people feel valued, supported and confident to contribute.
Working closely with our Manager – Vertebrate Fauna and the senior members of the Vertebrate Fauna team, you’ll help shape a positive team experience while keeping our people, workloads and priorities connected.
What you’ll be doing
Lead and support your people, creating an environment where people feel valued, connected and clear on what’s expected.
Coach, mentor and develop team members, recognising individual strengths and creating opportunities for people to grow.
Bring people together, encouraging collaboration, open communication and different perspectives when working through challenges.
Coordinate workloads, resourcing and priorities with the Manager and senior Vertebrate Fauna team, responding to changing project and team needs.
Have regular, honest and constructive conversations, approaching feedback and performance with integrity, fairness and respect.
Take a solution-focused approach to challenges, helping the team move from problems to practical ways forward.
Encourage innovation and curiosity, creating space for people to challenge how things are done and explore better ways of working.
Be responsive to your people, recognising when support, clarity or a different approach is needed.
Be bold when it matters, raising issues early, having the conversations that need to happen and supporting positive change.
Help create a safe, inclusive and collaborative culture where people can contribute their expertise while delivering meaningful work and better biodiversity outcomes.
What you’ll bring
We’re particularly interested in how you lead and work with people.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading, supervising, coaching or developing people.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an ability to listen well and build trust.
- A collaborative leadership style that brings people into conversations and values different perspectives.
- Integrity and good judgement, particularly when navigating sensitive or challenging people matters.
- A solution-focused mindset and the ability to remain pragmatic when priorities compete or things don’t go to plan.
- A responsive leadership approach, adapting your support to the needs of different people and situations.
- Curiosity and an innovative mindset, with a willingness to question existing ways of working and explore better approaches.
- The confidence to be bold, speak openly, constructively challenge thinking and have honest conversations when needed.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to create clarity across competing priorities.
Most importantly,
a genuine interest in people and a desire to help a passionate scientific team grow, connect and do meaningful work together. Experience in environmental consulting, zoology or a related scientific environment would be valuable, but technical expertise is not essential to be successful in this role.
We’re interested in the strengths, perspectives and experiences you could bring to Biologic.
