About the Business

Shrihaan Investments, trading as Hermit Park Newsagency & TSG, is an established retail outlet located in Hermit Park, Townsville, Queensland. Our business offers a diverse range of products and services, including newspapers, magazines, stationery, greeting cards, giftware, tobacco products, lottery products and other convenience retail merchandise.

We are urgently seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee daily store operations, manage employees, maintain inventory, deliver excellent customer service and support the ongoing growth and profitability of our business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan, organise and oversee the daily operations of the retail store to ensure efficient business performance.
- Manage and supervise retail employees, including allocating duties, preparing rosters and monitoring performance.
- Develop and implement retail sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and improve profitability.
- Monitor stock levels, coordinate purchasing and maintain effective inventory control systems.
- Liaise with suppliers, negotiate purchasing arrangements and ensure timely delivery of merchandise.
- Establish and review product pricing, promotional activities and merchandise displays.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professionally resolve customer complaints.
- Recruit, train, supervise and motivate retail staff to maintain operational efficiency.




- Monitor daily sales transactions, cash handling procedures, financial records and point-of-sale operations.
- Prepare sales reports, monitor operating expenses and assist with business budgeting and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements, retail regulations and applicable licensing obligations.
- Oversee merchandising, store presentation, promotional displays and product placement.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, attract customers and expand the business's retail product range.
- Monitor employee productivity, establish performance expectations and implement operational improvements.
- Coordinate lottery, newsagency, tobacco and convenience retail operations in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Maintain appropriate stock security, loss prevention procedures and cash reconciliation processes.
- Develop positive relationships with customers, suppliers and other business stakeholders.
- Report business performance, operational issues and improvement recommendations to the business owner.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

- A relevant Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.




- At least one year of relevant retail management or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing retail operations, stock control, purchasing and customer service.
- Robust leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supervising employees, preparing staff rosters and coordinating daily store activities.
- Sound understanding of retail sales targets, budgeting, pricing and inventory management.
- Ability to work independently, make operational decisions and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems, cash handling and basic computer applications.

Previous experience in a newsagency, convenience store, lottery outlet or similar retail environment will be highly regarded.
