This is more than a traditional bookkeeping role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, takes pride in delivering exceptional service and has the entrepreneurial mindset to help grow a successful division, with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the business expands.

With 53 Partners and over 217 team members across Australia, the UK, New Zealand and the Philippines, KHI Partners is growing rapidly, with expansion into Melbourne and Canada planned for 2026 and beyond. We maintain a strong, collaborative culture while building close and trusted relationships with our clients.

This position is based at KHI JGM Accountants in Cairns, part of the broader KHI Partners group. We combine the resources and expertise of a multidisciplinary professional group with the personal service and close working relationships of a local Cairns team.

We work with a diverse range of clients and businesses, providing accounting, taxation, bookkeeping and advisory services. Our approach goes beyond compliance, with a focus on delivering practical, commercially minded solutions that create real value for our clients.

About the Role

We’re looking for someone who wants to take ownership, bring fresh ideas and play an active role in growing the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver end-to-end bookkeeping services to a portfolio of clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact.
- Manage bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and BAS preparation.
- Prepare regular management reports and financial information to support client decision-making.
- Assist clients with bookkeeping software, systems and process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with our accounting, taxation and advisory teams.
- Develop and implement efficient bookkeeping processes, workflows and systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and add value for clients.
- Contribute to business development and the growth of the bookkeeping division.
- Train,

mentor and ultimately lead bookkeeping staff as the team expands.
- Take an active role in building, developing and shaping the division for long-term success.

About You

You’re an experienced bookkeeper or accountant who combines strong technical skills with commercial awareness, initiative and a genuine passion for working with clients.

You enjoy taking ownership of your work, identifying opportunities for improvement and finding better ways to do things. Just as importantly, you’re excited by the prospect of building something, rather than simply stepping into an established role.

Ideally, you’ll have:

- Strong bookkeeping experience and a sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience with MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks Online.
- Experience managing multiple clients, competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
- The ability to work autonomously, take initiative and be accountable for outcomes.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset.
- An interest in developing new client relationships and growing a client portfolio.
- The ambition to build, mentor and eventually lead a team.
- A willingness to improve processes, share ideas and contribute to the broader business.
