About Us
Acute Fabrication is a Western Australian welding and fabrication business based in Henderson. We provide pipework, structural steel fabrication and associated services for commercial, infrastructure and industrial projects, including pipelines and bridge structures.
As the business grows, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to strengthen internal management, coordinate key business functions and develop the capabilities needed for our next stage of growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Directors, you will oversee internal operations across fabrication, project delivery, and administration, focusing on business performance, management effectiveness, and cross-departmental coordination.
Working through managers and supervisors, you will provide direction, establish accountability and ensure our people, systems and resources support successful project outcomes. You will also support business development under the Directors’ leadership, helping align new opportunities with the company’s operational capabilities.
This role suits a commercially minded leader who can bring structure to a growing business and enable the Directors to dedicate greater attention to client engagement and business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the Directors’ business objectives into operational plans, budgets and departmental priorities, monitoring progress against agreed targets.
- Provide overall leadership across fabrication operations, project delivery and administration, ensuring effective coordination and timely management decisions.
- Oversee production capacity, workforce planning and resource allocation to balance project commitments with the company’s growth requirements.
- Lead and develop managers and supervisors, establishing clear responsibilities, performance measures and accountability for results.
- Review financial and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, cost efficiency, project margins and overall profitability.
- Strengthen management systems, internal controls and reporting to support consistent performance as the business grows.
- Maintain oversight of safety, quality and project delivery, ensuring significant risks and issues are effectively managed.
- Support business development, contributing to client relationships, new project opportunities and market expansion.
- Work with the Directors to assess new opportunities and align commercial commitments with operational capacity, resources and financial objectives.
About You
You are an experienced leader who combines commercial judgement with strong operational and people management skills. You can provide clear direction, build capable management teams and maintain accountability while allowing managers and supervisors to lead their areas effectively.
Essential experience and capabilities
- At least five years’ management experience, with substantial responsibility for operations, production and people management.
- Demonstrated experience leading sizeable teams across multiple functions, directly and through managers or supervisors.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple business functions and manage competing operational and commercial priorities.
- Strong financial and commercial skills, including business planning, budgeting, cost control and performance analysis.
- Experience developing managers, setting performance expectations and improving team effectiveness.
- A track record of strengthening management systems and delivering measurable operational improvements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
Highly regarded
- Experience in welding, metal fabrication, manufacturing, industrial products or a related sector.
- Familiarity with project-based businesses.
- Experience supporting business growth, organisational change, or increased production capacity.
- Exposure to sales, marketing, client relationship management or business development.
- Relevant qualifications in business, management or engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
What We Offer
- A salary of $120,000–$150,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience.
- A broad leadership role within a growing fabrication business.
- Direct engagement with the Directors and the opportunity to influence business decisions.
- The chance to develop management capability, improve performance and contribute to long-term growth.
