A high-profile Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable cloud-based data solutions supporting major Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and advanced analytics initiatives . You will work across AWS, Python, SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines and modern DevOps technologies , delivering secure, reliable and reusable data products. The successful Senior Data Engineer will be offered an initial 12-month contract with the view to be extended , based in VIC or NSW , with hybrid working arrangements.

The successful Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Design, develop and maintain scalable AWS data pipelines supporting analytics, AI and Machine Learning solutions.

- Build reusable ETL/ELT processes, curated datasets and data products from structured and unstructured sources.

- Implement data quality controls, automated testing, metadata, lineage and monitoring to ensure reliable data delivery.





- Collaborate with Data Scientists, ML Engineers and technical teams to deliver production-ready data solutions using CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code .

The successful Senior Data Engineer will have experience in the following:

- AWS data engineering services , including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, EMR, Kinesis and Step Functions.

- Python programming and advanced SQL , including query optimisation, data modelling and performance tuning.

- ETL/ELT pipelines, data orchestration, data quality testing, metadata and lineage .

- DevOps and cloud engineering , including Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Docker, ECS or EKS.
