HCLTech is looking for a highly talented and self-motivated Room Temp Electronics Measurement Rack technician to join it in advancing the technological world through innovation and creativity.
Job Title: Room Temp Electronics Measurement Rack technician
Job ID: 182986
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Redmond, WA - Onsite
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Room Temp Rack technician or engineer to support electronics rack assembly, instrumentation integration, RF hardware installation, networking setup, and lab operations for quantum hardware test environments. This role focuses on building and maintaining clean, repeatable room-temperature rack configurations, supporting instrument bring-up and debug, and collaborating closely with electrical, RF, controls, software, and lab operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Rack & instrumentation integration: Assemble, cable, label and maintain room-temperature electronics racks; install power distribution, RF hardware, instrumentation, patch panels and network-connected equipment. Strong cable management and configuration discipline are expected.
- Electronic/RF measurement capability: Support instrumentation and RF signal paths, including measurement-chain hardware. The meeting specifically clarified that this is a measurement rack, not simply a data-center rack.
- Bring-up & first-line debug: Bring up and troubleshoot instrumentation, control hardware, RF paths, networking equipment and software-controlled measurement setups.
- Operate the setup: The expectation goes beyond assembling the rack. The person should be capable of running measurements and looking at the resulting data.
- Networking: Familiarity with DHCP, network configuration,
connectivity/addressing issues, and networked laboratory instruments.
- Python: More than 2 years of Python 3.x is specified for instrument control, automation, configuration checks, data collection and troubleshooting; Python experience in a physics laboratory is listed as desirable.
- Hands-on electronics lab skills: Basic electronics, ESD-safe practices, laboratory procedures, instrumentation cabling, power distribution and physical lab setup.
- Practical RF/instrumentation exposure: RF hardware/cabling and familiarity with equipment such as lock-in amplifiers and traveling-wave parametric amplifiers are desirable
- Physical/lab work: The JD includes lifting 40 lb, working in constrained rack spaces, working at heights up to 8 ft, and potentially traveling for rack installation/bring-up.
- Documentation: Maintain rack layouts, cable maps, photos, configuration notes, software versions, network settings and observations.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of Rack assembly, cabling, power distribution and instrument setup
- RF signal paths, RF cabling, bring-up and debugging
- Running measurements and reviewing data
- Networking basics (DHCP, IP addressing)
- 2+ years of Python 3.x for instrument control and automation
- Able to lift 40 lb, work at heights up to 8 ft and travel occasionally
