Wollondilly Shire Council

Administration & Member Services Assistant

We're looking for a go-getter to join our team

Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Sydney Branch Ltd (SSAA Sydney)
Temp-to-Perm
Silverdale & other Sydney operations sites

SSAA Sydney Branch is looking for an energetic and capable Administration & Member Services Assistant to join our small, busy team.

Supporting more than 42,000 members, SSAA Sydney operates and supports shooting ranges, clubs, training, competitions, events and member programs across Sydney.

This is a hands-on administration role suited to someone with at least two years' office or administration experience who is organised, confident dealing with people and keen to learn and develop.

You don't need experience in the shooting sports industry – we can teach you that.

What we're looking for is someone with initiative, attention to detail, common sense, great customer service skills and a willingness to get involved.

What you'll be doing

Working closely with the Executive Officer and a small administration team, you'll help with the day-to-day administration and member services of the Branch.

This will include:

- Being one of the first points of contact for our members by phone and email
- Responding to general enquiries and helping members find the information they need
- Processing membership applications, renewals, transfers and changes
- Maintaining accurate membership and administrative records
- Assisting with bookings, training, courses, Try Shooting and other member activities
- Supporting the administration of our clubs, ranges and member programs
- Updating databases,

spreadsheets and online systems
- Preparing correspondence, reports and other documents
- Assisting with events, competitions, meetings and training activities
- Liaising with members, staff, volunteers, Range Officers, instructors and external stakeholders
- Assisting with rosters, bookings and general operational coordination
- Helping keep our website and member information up to date
- Following up outstanding enquiries, applications and actions
- Providing general administrative support to the Executive Officer and team
- Pitching in wherever needed to keep things running smoothly.

Who we're looking for

We're not looking for someone who already knows everything about our organisation.

We're looking for someone who is switched on, has attention to detail, is willing to learn, gets things done and goes the extra mile.

You will have:

- A minimum of two years' office, administration or customer service experience
- Confidence learning recent systems and software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to manage several priorities at once
- Confidence dealing with customers or members by phone and email
- A willingness to ask questions and learn

- The ability to work independently once you've been shown what to do.

Experience in a membership organisation, sporting organisation, club, training environment or similar would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

More importantly, you'll be someone who...

- Takes initiative rather than waiting to be asked
- Is friendly, professional and comfortable dealing with all kinds of people
- Follows things through
- Is reliable and organised
- Doesn't mind a busy environment
- Can adapt when priorities changeIs happy to jump in and help the rest of the team
- Checks their work carefully, takes pride in accuracy and follows tasks through to completion
- Wants to learn, develop and take on more responsibility over time.

You'll need:

- A current driver's licence
- The ability to obtain a National Police Check
- A firearms licence or the ability and willingness to obtain one
- SSAA Membership or the ability and willingness to obtain one

You do not need previous firearms or shooting experience to apply.

The role

We're flexible for the right person.

The role will be offered as temp-to-perm, and we're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.

The position will support activities across SSAA Sydney's operations based at Silverdale, so some flexibility to work from different locations and occasionally assist with events or activities outside normal office hours will be useful.

For the right person, there is plenty of opportunities to learn on the job, develop new skills and grow with the organisation.
