Smith & Co Recruitment is partnering with an established Australian-owned manufacturer to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Accountant for their Crestmead team.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a commercially minded accountant with strong manufacturing costing experience who enjoys being involved in daily operations, investigating variances and driving financial performance.

With a close-knit, hardworking team, the business offers long-term stability and a collaborative environment where finance works closely with production, operations and ownership.

The Chance

Reporting directly to the Company Director, you'll oversee financial reporting, manufacturing costing, cash flow and daily accounting operations while leading a small Accounts and Reception team.

A key focus will be ensuring accurate manufacturing costing, investigating variances and working directly with production staff to understand the operational drivers behind financial results.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage financial reporting, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Oversee manufacturing costing, including burden rates, job costing, labour utilisation, WIP and inventory.
- Investigate costing discrepancies, production variances and operational inefficiencies.
- Maintain ERP system integrity, costing structures and financial accuracy.
- Work closely with production staff to review job trackers, labour allocation and manufacturing performance.
- Actively assist with debtor collections, reconciliations and daily accounting requirements.
- Oversee month-end reporting, financial controls and statutory compliance.




- Lead a small Accounts and Reception team while driving process improvements.

About You We're looking for an experienced, hardworking accountant who enjoys being involved in the detail and takes ownership of their responsibilities.

Ideally, you will have:

- 5+ years' experience in a Manufacturing Accountant, Corporate Accountant or similar role.
- Strong manufacturing costing experience, including burden rates, job costing, labour utilisation and variance analysis.
- Experience investigating manufacturing discrepancies and analysing financial performance.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and reconciliation skills.
- Advanced Excel and ERP experience (Epicor highly regarded).
- CA/CPA qualifications or working towards completion.
- A practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to assist across all finance functions.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with production staff through to senior management.
- A stable employment history demonstrating long-term commitment.
