The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Design Estimator to join our design and estimating department. This is a senior role for someone who already operates at this level, not an entry point or a training pathway into estimating.

You’ll be the person who can pick up a tender or a contract and know straight away what the customer actually needs, then turn that into an accurate, well-reasoned estimate, whether the job is a small single-site system or a large, complex, multi-site installation. You’ll work closely with our sales and technical teams to deliver proposals that are technically sound and commercially competitive, without owning a client book or recent-business targets yourself.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret and respond to complex tender and contract documentation, identifying scope, risk, and commercial implications before pricing begins.
- Prepare detailed estimates, quotations, and proposals for electronic security systems, including Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion Detection, Intercom, and Alarm Systems.
- Scope, design, and quote structured cabling, network infrastructure, fibre, and switching, and related IT works.
- Review client briefs, specifications, architectural drawings, and tender documents to develop accurate bills of materials, labour calculations, and project cost estimates.
- Estimate and design projects across the full range, from small, single-site jobs through to large, complex, multi-site installations.
- Conduct client consultations to assess site requirements, security risks, and technical objectives.
- Collaborate with the sales team to respond to tenders, RFQs, and customer enquiries.
- Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate costings.
- Develop solution-based proposals that balance technical compliance, customer requirements, project budgets, and profitability.
- Support the successful handover of awarded projects to the delivery team through accurate designs, scope documentation,



and estimating information.
- Produce professional security system designs, layouts, and supporting documentation using Bluebeam and other design tools.
- Translate client requirements into practical, compliant, and cost-effective electronic security solutions.
- Collaborate closely with technical, engineering, and project delivery teams to ensure designs align with installation standards and operational requirements.
- Maintain and continuously improve estimating templates, pricing databases, design standards, and proposal documentation.
- Provide technical direction and quality review for supporting estimating staff as the function grows.
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades, enhancements, and additional services within existing client accounts.

- Ensure accuracy in all project estimates within target margins.
- Deliver exceptional client service, achieving high client satisfaction scores.
- Support the team’s sales targets through accurate, timely, and well-reasoned estimating.

Expected Activities

- Conduct site visits and client meetings to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
- Utilise estimating software and tools to create detailed cost breakdowns.
- Follow up on submitted proposals to secure contracts and provide post-quote support.
- Conduct regular reviews of completed projects to refine estimation processes and improve accuracy.
