Zebra Building and Construction Pty Ltd – Brisbane QLD

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to undertake carpentry work on residential construction, renovation and refurbishment projects.

You will interpret building plans and specifications, prepare layouts, and measure, cut, shape, assemble and install timber and other building materials. The role involves structural framing, internal carpentry, and the repair and replacement of existing timber structures and fittings.

Key responsibilities

- Read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, material requirements and installation methods.
- Select suitable timber and other materials, calculate quantities and prepare site layouts for carpentry work.
- Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other materials using appropriate hand tools, power tools and machinery.
- Form timber joints and assemble components using nails, screws, adhesives and other suitable fixings.
- Construct, erect and install timber wall frames, floor structures, subflooring and roof framing, checking alignment, levels and squareness.
- Fit and install door and window frames, doors, skirting boards, architraves and other internal timber fittings.
- Undertake carpentry work on existing residential properties, including identifying, removing and replacing damaged or deteriorated timber structures and fittings.
- Check completed work against drawings and specifications to ensure the required dimensions,



fit and finish.
- Coordinate with supervisors, subcontractors and other trades to complete work in line with project schedules.
- Follow applicable building standards, site procedures and workplace health and safety requirements, and maintain tools and a clean, safe work area.

About you

- A relevant carpentry trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of two years of relevant carpentry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in residential construction, renovations and carpentry installation and repair work.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, take accurate measurements and set out carpentry work.
- Proficiency in the safe use of carpentry hand tools, power tools and machinery.
- Sound knowledge of timber materials, fixing methods, Australian building practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Robust attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver's licence.
- A valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).
