We are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Casual Events Coordinator to join our team three days a week at our iconic waterfront venue.
About the Role
As our Events Coordinator, you'll play a key role in driving event sales and managing the client journey, from initial enquiry and venue tour through to securing bookings, event planning and finalisation. You'll build strong relationships with clients, understand their needs and confidently guide them through our event spaces, menus, beverage options and event requirements.
Working closely with our Event Operations team, you'll ensure every detail is clearly planned and communicated, setting the team up to deliver exceptional events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the sales, organisation and attention to detail involved in event coordination. You'll be confident converting enquiries into bookings,
identifying opportunities to maximise event revenue and building lasting client relationships that encourage repeat business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing inbound event enquiries, following up on leads and converting opportunities into confirmed bookings
- Conducting venue tours and meeting with prospective clients
- Building robust client relationships and encouraging repeat business
- Recommending suitable event formats, menus, beverages and inclusions
- Proactively identifying upselling opportunities to maximise event revenue
- Coordinating weddings, celebrations, corporate events, conferences and Club events
- Preparing event proposals, function details, run sheets and floorplans
- Clearly communicating event requirements to our Event Operations, kitchen and management teams
- Ensuring all event details are accurately maintained within Function Tracker
- Monitoring weekly and monthly sales performance, identifying opportunities for growth and contributing ideas to drive bookings during quieter periods
- Maintaining event supplies and presentation standards
- Supporting the planning and coordination of larger Club events as required
About You
You're warm, personable and confident, with a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel looked after.
You're commercially minded, sales-driven and highly organised, with an eye for detail. You enjoy building relationships,
have the confidence to turn enquiries into bookings and understand the importance of clear communication in a busy hospitality environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- 2+ years' experience in an events coordination or similar role
- Proven sales skills and confidence converting enquiries into confirmed bookings
- A proactive approach to generating sales opportunities and maximising event revenue
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence meeting clients and conducting venue tours
- The ability to manage multiple events, deadlines and priorities at once
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- A collaborative approach to working with operational, kitchen and management teams
- Confidence using event management systems, Microsoft Office and Canva
- A current RSA, or willingness to obtain one
Most importantly, you'll genuinely enjoy working with people, have a passion for hospitality and take pride in achieving great outcomes for both our clients and the Club.
Why Join St George Sailing Club?
This is an opportunity to build your events career in an incredible waterfront environment while becoming part of a busy and supportive hospitality team.
Reporting to the Events & Weddings Manager, you'll work across everything from intimate celebrations and corporate events to weddings and large-scale Club events like Melbourne Cup and New Year's Eve, offering plenty of variety and the opportunity to take real ownership of your work.
If you're organised, energetic, commercially minded and passionate about events, we'd love to hear from you.
