Our mission is to facilitate human health research and its transformation into medical practice.

NIHR BioResource is a unique and powerful resource for studying disease mechanisms and for investigating the links between genes, the environment, health and disease, enabling scientific discoveries as well as facilitating translational medicine for the benefit of patients.

The post holder will manage a small sub team in charge of fulfilling data requests, by providing genomic data and/or defining cohorts based on genomic profiles. NIHR BioResource aims to substantially increase the number of research studies it supports, by adopting new tools and opening this position. The data sets are currently hosted at the University's Cambridge Service for Data Driven Discovery (CSD3) but will soon be migrated to the public cloud (AWS)

and integrated in a commercial bioinformatics platform that includes a variant database and a Secure Desktop Environment (SDE) for data sharing. The post holder is also expected to contribute when needed to other activities of the Bioinformatics team.

The post requires proficiency in programming, bioinformatics tools, and database management. Team-oriented and detail-oriented approach essential. The postholder will ideally have experience in bioinformatics, computational genomics, software development, rare or complex disorder genetics and have a keen interest in translational research.
