About The Company

Corto Pty is part of ATI Global, one of the world’s largest legal technology companies. Through CORTO, we develop technology that supports local, everyday law firms and helps them do their best work for the people and communities they serve. We are a growing, well-funded global business that values thoughtful collaboration, practical innovation, and meaningful contributions from every team member.

Our teams work on complex products used in professional legal environments, where clarity, reliability, and ease of use matter. We aim to make sophisticated software feel straightforward and approachable, while creating an environment where people can take ownership, share ideas, and grow alongside the business.

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Frontend Developer with strong React engineering capabilities, sound visual judgement, and a genuine interest in creating intuitive digital experiences. As part of the FormPhil team within CORTO, you will work closely with our UX/UI Lead and full-stack developers to turn functional interfaces into polished, accessible, and production-ready applications.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for both the quality of the user experience and the frontend code that delivers it. Full-stack developers typically build backend functionality and an initial frontend implementation. You will refine and extend that work, improving interactions, usability, consistency, and performance while preserving feature requirements.

You will also contribute early to design and technical discussions, helping identify reusable patterns and resolve questions before they create rework.

Responsibilities

Translate Figma designs into responsive React interfaces, paying close attention to layout, typography, spacing, visual hierarchy, and interaction details.

Partner with the UX/UI Lead to understand user needs and design intent, contribute ideas, discuss trade-offs, and recommend improvements that make workflows clearer and easier to use.

Complete the experience beyond static designs by implementing thoughtful loading, empty, error, validation, focus, and disabled states. Refine frontend implementations in collaboration with full-stack developers, strengthening component structure, application state handling, usability, and consistency.

Build and maintain reusable components, shared frontend patterns, and clear conventions. Document components and encourage adoption across the engineering team. Improve application performance and reliability by addressing unnecessary rendering, slow loading, and unresponsive interactions. Write maintainable, tested code, participate in code reviews, and incorporate accessibility and cross-browser considerations throughout development.

Use sound judgement when designs do not specify every detail, and collaborate with the UX/UI Lead when additional design direction is needed. Share ownership of the finished product, raise issues constructively, and follow through on practical solutions.

Qualifications

You bring strong experience with React and TypeScript, supported by a solid understanding of JavaScript, semantic HTML, CSS, and modern frontend tools. You can build and maintain substantial applications, not just individual screens.

Your background includes reusable components, application state, API integration, responsive design, accessibility, testing, and performance optimisation.

You are comfortable interpreting Figma designs and working closely with designers to discuss intent, explore ideas, and resolve implementation details. You have strong visual and interaction judgement, notice when hierarchy or behaviour could be improved, and can explain your recommendations. You can work effectively with existing code, improve it without unnecessary complexity, and give and receive constructive feedback.

Experience with design systems, Storybook or similar documentation tools, complex forms, workflow-heavy applications, or AI-powered interfaces is an advantage. Examples of work that demonstrate your engineering decisions and the impact of your contribution to user experience are welcome.

Perks

Join a collaborative, passionate team where your work can make a visible difference. CORTO offers trust, autonomy, and opportunities to contribute to complex projects in a fast-moving technology business. You will have access to career development and learning opportunities as the company grows, along with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Our benefits include additional time off, gym membership, social events, sports teams, and access to sailing and yacht events. You may also access LEAP Home, an ATI Group program designed to support employees in buying a primary residence.

Equal Opportunity

Corto Pty is committed to providing an inclusive and respectful workplace. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and make employment decisions based on skills, experience, and role requirements. We encourage candidates to bring their perspectives and ideas to our team.
