Stone Group Lawyers is seeking an accomplished and commercially minded Practice Leader - Family Law to lead, develop and grow the Brisbane family law practice. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced family lawyer who combines exceptional technical ability with strong people leadership, commercial acumen and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding client outcomes. The successful candidate will have substantial autonomy in managing the Brisbane practice, supported by an established firm with offices across South East Queensland and the Fraser Coast.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and oversee the Brisbane family law practice, ensuring high standards of legal service, professionalism, efficiency and profitability
- Supervise, mentor and develop solicitors, paralegals and support staff, fostering a high-performance, accountable and team-oriented team culture
- Manage a portfolio of complex and high-value family law matters, including property settlements, parenting disputes, financial agreements and contested litigation
- Drive practice growth through referral relationships, professional networking, business development initiatives and client acquisition strategies
- Take responsibility for the practice's financial performance, including revenue generation, billing, WIP management, debtor control, productivity and profitability
- Ensure exceptional client service,



timely communication, effective matter progression and strong client retention
- Maintain appropriate standards of file management, costs disclosure, professional conduct, supervision and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with the Managing Partner to implement the firm's strategic objectives, improve operational efficiency and identify opportunities for expansion
- Assist in identifying, recruiting and retaining high-quality legal professionals to support sustainable growth

About you

- A minimum of 7 years' post-admission experience, with substantial experience practising in family law
- Demonstrated expertise in complex parenting and property matters, negotiations, mediation and family law litigation
- Proven ability to manage matters independently from initial consultation through to resolution or final hearing
- Demonstrated supervisory, mentoring or team leadership experience
- Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of billing, productivity and law firm financial performance
- Excellent written and oral advocacy, negotiation and client relationship skills
- Exceptional organisational skills, sound judgment and a high degree of professional integrity
