The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

About the Role

The Engineering Department is responsible for constructing and maintaining all buildings and displays across Sovereign Hill, Sovereign Hill Hotel, Gold Museum and Narmbool.

Our Technical Services team is responsible for all the technical aspects of our AURA sound and light show, Quartz Mine, Secret Chamber, Trapped, Red Hill Mine, VTD displays, Chinese Village, Woah Hawp, Gold Museum, Fire Alarms, Testing and Tagging and Electrical Infrastructure such as major and minor switch boards. The team ensures all displays are maintained and operated correctly to internal standards.





Duties & Responsibilities

The ‘A’ Grade Electrician is responsible for providing electrical and specialist technical support throughout the organisation. Working as part of the technical services team in the technical aspects of the AURA show, Quartz Mine, Secret Chamber, Red Hill Mine, VTD displays, Chinese Village, Woah Hawp, Gold Museum Testing and Tagging and electrical maintenance ensuring all displays are operating correctly to internal and Australian standards.

Desired Qualifications

- A grade electrician licence
