The opportunity

Step in as the clinical lead during planned leave, unexpected absences and recruitment transitions. You’ll reassure patients, support local teams, and ensure continuity of care as each practice moves through change.
This role suits an experienced optometrist who enjoys meeting current people, adapts confidently to different environments and takes pride in leaving every practice in a strong position.
What you’ll do

- Deliver thorough eye examinations, clear recommendations and personalised patient care.
- Provide relief coverage across practices primarily within your home state.
- Travel interstate occasionally to support key practice transitions.
- Use advanced diagnostic technology, including OCT and ultra-widefield imaging, to inform clinical decisions.
- Work closely with practice teams, allied health providers and specialists to maintain continuity of care.




- Follow established handover processes to ensure smooth transitions between clinicians.
- Support efficient practice operations while keeping patient care at the centre of your decisions.

What you’ll bring

- A recognised optometry qualification and at least two years of practical experience.
- Strong clinical judgement and confidence working across different practice settings.
- The ability to explain complex findings in clear, reassuring language.
- A genuine commitment to patients’ eye health and overall experience.
- Confidence using advanced diagnostic technology.
- A cooperative approach and the ability to build rapport quickly.
