About the role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join our growing team at our Renmark office in South Australia. This is a full time position that plays a crucial role in translating engineering concepts and designs into accurate technical drawings and documentation. As a Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson, you will be responsible for creating accurate mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation that are essential to the successful execution of our engineering projects. This role is central to our design process and requires exceptional attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and technical documentation using computer-aided design (CAD) software, ensuring all drawings comply with relevant engineering standards and conventions

- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and instructions provided by senior engineers and designers to create comprehensive technical drawings

- Develop and maintain mechanical design documentation, including assembly drawings, component drawings, and detailed parts lists





- Ensure accuracy and consistency across all drawings, verifying dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications

- Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify design requirements and resolve any technical ambiguities

- Update and modify existing drawings in response to design changes or client feedback

- Manage drawing files and maintain organised documentation systems, ensuring version control and accessibility

- Conduct quality checks on drawings to identify and correct errors before submission to clients or manufacturing teams

- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and project documentation as required

- Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging CAD technologies

What we're looking for

- Formal qualification in mechanical engineering drafting, mechanical engineering technology, or a related discipline

- Proven proficiency with industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or similar platforms)

- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes

- Knowledge of relevant engineering drawing standards, including AS 1100 or ISO 128

- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings and documentation

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team





- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

- A valid Australian driver's licence (preferred)

- Previous experience in a mechanical engineering drafting role or similar technical environment (preferred)
