Robotics – AI Trainer

Remote | Independent Contractor | $40–$125/hr USD

About the Role

We are seeking experienced robotics engineers, automation specialists, and technical professionals to evaluate how advanced artificial intelligence models perform real-world robotics and autonomous systems tasks.

This opportunity allows professionals with backgrounds in robotics, mechatronics, control systems, automation, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science to apply their technical expertise to improving AI-generated engineering solutions.

Projects may involve evaluating robotic motion planning, kinematics, control algorithms, sensor integration, autonomous navigation, simulation results, and robotic system designs.

In this role, you will develop realistic robotics challenges based on your professional experience, evaluate AI-generated responses, identify technical errors, and provide detailed feedback to improve model accuracy and reasoning.

This is not a traditional robotics engineering position. Instead, you will apply your technical knowledge and analytical judgment to help advance AI technology in a flexible, fully remote environment.

Benefits of the Opportunity

- Work remotely using your own computer.
- Flexible scheduling with the ability to select projects based on your availability and expertise.
- Competitive compensation ranging from $40–$125 USD per hour, depending on project requirements.
- Opportunities to work on challenging robotics, automation, and autonomous systems projects.
- Access to required AI tools without needing personal subscriptions.
- Opportunities to apply specialized engineering knowledge to emerging AI technologies.

Responsibilities

- Develop challenging, realistic robotics and automation tasks based on professional experience, including motion planning, robotic kinematics, control systems, sensor integration, and autonomous navigation.
- Create supporting materials such as engineering specifications, robotic system diagrams, simulation outputs, sensor datasets, control models, and technical reports.
- Evaluate AI-generated robotics solutions for technical accuracy, completeness, feasibility, and adherence to engineering principles.
- Analyze robotic motion, trajectory planning, actuator behavior, system dynamics, and control algorithms.
- Review robotic perception, localization, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision-making approaches.
- Compare responses from different AI models, identify strengths and weaknesses, and document areas for improvement.

- Develop detailed evaluation rubrics and success criteria to assess AI-generated engineering solutions.
- Identify technical errors involving coordinate transformations, kinematic calculations, control logic, sensor interpretation, system integration, and safety considerations.
- Review robotics simulations, engineering tradeoffs, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with other technical experts to review and refine evaluation tasks.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of applied professional experience preferred in robotics, automation, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in progress or completed in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Robotics and Autonomous Systems
- Industrial Robotics and Automation
- Mechatronics and Electromechanical Systems
- Motion Planning and Robotic Kinematics
- Control Systems and Dynamics
- Computer Vision and Robotic Perception
- Sensor Integration and Sensor Fusion
- Embedded Systems and Robotics Software
- Hands-on experience designing, programming, testing, simulating, or troubleshooting robotic systems.
- Familiarity with relevant technical tools such as ROS/ROS 2, Python, C++, MATLAB, Simulink, Gazebo, or robotics simulation environments.
- Understanding of robotic motion, coordinate systems, feedback control, system dynamics, and engineering calculations.
- Ability to identify technical errors and clearly explain findings in writing.
- Current or recent hands-on experience performing robotics, automation, or related engineering work.
- Robust written and verbal English communication skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, or willingness to learn.
- Comfortable using cloud-based collaboration tools, desktop applications, and common engineering file formats.
- Programming experience is strongly preferred and may be required for certain projects.
- Advanced degrees, specialized robotics certifications, or extensive autonomous systems experience are a plus but not required.

Compensation and Contract Details

- Pay: $40–$125 USD per hour, depending on project and qualifications.
- Position Type: Independent contractor.

- Location: Fully remote.
- Schedule: Flexible, with a stated minimum of 10 hours per week and no weekly maximum. Some projects prioritize availability of 30–40 hours per week.
- Payment Method: PayPal, on a regular payment schedule.
- Eligible Locations: United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.
- Tools: Access to required AI platforms is provided.

Application and Assessment Process

- Apply: Submit your application and complete the required account registration.
- Skills Assessment: Complete an unpaid technical assessment lasting approximately 2–4 hours. The assessment evaluates robotics knowledge, engineering reasoning, technical judgment, and the ability to identify errors in AI-generated work. All assessment submissions must be completed independently without AI assistance.
- Assessment Review: Qualified submissions are reviewed by technical evaluators. Candidates who successfully pass will be invited to complete onboarding.
- Project Training: Complete introductory training covering task development, supporting documentation, and evaluation criteria.
- Task Development: Propose realistic robotics and automation challenges based on professional experience and create supporting materials.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Submitted work undergoes expert review, with opportunities for feedback, revisions, and additional assignments.

Project participation and compensation are subject to applicable review and acceptance requirements. Passing the assessment does not guarantee immediate project availability.
