WFH Australia Wide: We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Auslan Interpreters to join our National Relay Service (NRS) Join our National Relay Service Video Relay Service team in 2027 Following the successful transition of our National Relay Service (NRS) Video Relay Service to a 24/7 operating model , we are continuing to grow our interpreter community and are now inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced and passionate Auslan Interpreters interested in joining our team in 2027 . Whether you're considering a change in 2027, looking for additional flexibility, or simply interested in exploring future opportunities with the NRS, we'd love to hear from you. Working remotely from home, our Auslan Interpreters play a vital role in supporting Deaf, hard of hearing, and speech communication difficulty communities by enabling accessible and meaningful communication. What You'll Do
As An Auslan Interpreter, You Will
- Deliver exceptional and professional interpreting services to NRS customers.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between callers.
- Respond efficiently and accurately to customer requests.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling personal and sensitive information.
- Adhere to the Interpreter Code of Ethics and professional standards.

- Level 2, Provisional Certified Auslan Interpreter: $56.85 per hour, plus casual loading where applicable.
- Level 3, Certified Auslan Interpreter: $66.33 per hour, plus casual loading where applicable. About You We're interested in hearing from Auslan Interpreters who have:
- NAATI accreditation as a Provisional Interpreter or Certified Interpreter.
- Experience interpreting within the Deaf community across a variety of settings.
- A thorough understanding of, and commitment to, the Interpreter Code of Ethics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Current ASLIA membership is preferred. Working From Home Requirements To work remotely within our Video Relay Service, you will require:
- A reliable wired NBN internet connection.
- Minimum internet speed of 50Mbps download and 20Mbps upload.
- A suitable private work-from-home space that is not shared while you are working.
- A mobile device running Android 11 or later, or iOS 15.0 or later, for multi-factor authentication.



Flexible Opportunities Across Our 24/7 Service Our successful move to a 24/7 operating model means we can offer opportunities across a broader range of hours. Our 2027 opportunities are expected to include permanent part-time and full-time positions , with permanent part-time options potentially including:
- 15 hours per week, 3 x 5-hour shifts
- 20 hours per week, 4 x 5-hour shifts
- 25 hours per week, 5 x 5-hour shifts Our service operates Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day, with shifts generally aligned to the following blocks:
- 7:00am to 12:00pm
- 12:00pm to 6:00pm
- 6:00pm to 12:00am
