Our Jobs and Skills Centre is a free, independent and government-funded service providing practical career development guidance and information on careers, training and workforce needs.
About the role
We’re looking for an approachable Career Development Advisor to join our Albany team full-time. You’ll provide practical, one-to-one guidance to people at all stages of their working lives, helping them explore their options and turn career aspirations into achievable pathways. You’ll:
- Help people recognise their skills, strengths and career possibilities.
- Provide practical support with resumes, applications, job searching and interview preparation.
- Explore training, study and upskilling pathways that suit individual needs and circumstances.
- Deliver workshops, group sessions and community outreach.
- Build connections with local employers, training providers and community organisations.
- Stay across the Albany and Great Southern labour market, ensuring your advice is practical, relevant and informed. What we're looking for You don’t need a career development background to be great in this role. If you’ve worked in employment services, education, training, HR, youth work or community services, you may already have many of the skills we’re looking for. What matters most is your ability to connect with people, listen and provide practical guidance. We’re looking for someone who has:
- Confidence engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and facilitating workshops or group sessions.
- Strong organisation and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage appointments, priorities and follow-up.
- Sound professional judgement and clear boundaries, with the ability to recognise when additional support or escalation is needed.
- A positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues, community partners and other stakeholders. You’ll also need a current C/C-A Class driver’s licence and the ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
