About the Role
As a Deli Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving a wide range of delicatessen items including sliced meats, cheeses, antipasto, and other gourmet goods. You'll work closely with your team to ensure the deli section is well-stocked, clean, and running smoothly throughout the day, while delivering outstanding service to every customer. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for fresh food, excellent attention to detail, and strong customer service skills. --

Key Responsibilities

- Delivering friendly and knowledgeable customer service at the deli counter
- Slicing, cutting, and grating a range of smallgoods and cheeses to order
- Preparing and packaging deli products for display and sale
- Ensuring product displays are visually appealing, clean, and well-stocked
- Assisting with stock rotation, labelling, and checking use-by dates




- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food prep areas
- Operating deli equipment safely and efficiently (slicers, graters, scales, etc.)
- Following all food safety, handling, and OH&S; procedures
- Working as part of a team to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive work environment --
- About You: We’re looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, reliable, and take pride in delivering quality food and customer service. The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 6 months of deli or food retail experience
- Confidence using deli-specific equipment such as slicers and graters
- A basic knowledge of smallgoods and cheeses, or a willingness to learn
- Solid awareness of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Great communication skills and a customer-first mindset
- Good physical fitness, including the ability to stand for long periods
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required --
