About the role
The Mechanical Engineer applies established job practices, techniques, standards, principals, theories and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of technical challenges of moderate scope and complexity. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting in subsystem architecture, design development, design verification, production introduction, and collaborating with various teams to support compliance with product and program requirements. The position involves the engagement of stakeholders to address technical issues associated with specific projects. This role supports innovation and contributes to continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in designing mechanical systems, components, and assemblies from initial concept through to production and introduction into service.
- Create detailed CAD models and drawings, perform engineering calculations, and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct tolerance analyses, ensure designs meet performance, cost, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and specialty engineering teams to support compliance with Systems Engineering program requirements.
- Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses using FEA and other simulation tools, and assist to validate models with physical testing.
- Develop and support test plan execution to validate designs, analyse test data, and suggest design improvements based on findings.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist in implementing validated technical solutions
- Support the development of artefacts and documentation necessary for successful introduction into service.
- Contribute to technical publications, maintenance policies, inspection intervals, and spares provisioning requirements in collaboration with integrated logistics support specialists.
- Contribute to supportability analyses, reliability assessments, and maintainability studies under guidance
- Assist with the identification and mitigation of technical risks; escalate scope or budget changes as required.
- Prepare technical documentation: design specifications, test reports and design study summaries.
- Present technical concepts to stakeholders and contribute to design decisions that impact project success.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and safety requirements; and support certification activities and patent applications when applicable. About you
