We’re looking for an experienced chef or cook to join the kitchen team at Ikigai Cafe on Bribie Island.

Ikigai is a busy, community-focused cafe with a creative menu and a team that genuinely cares about what we serve and how people are treated. We’re looking for someone reliable, organised and confident working in a fast-paced kitchen.

The employment arrangement and hours can be versatile for the right person. For someone interested in taking greater ownership, there is also a genuine opportunity to grow into a kitchen leadership role.

The role
Preparing and cooking consistently high-quality cafe food
Managing prep and staying organised during busy services
Maintaining excellent cleanliness and food-safety standards
Communicating clearly and working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
Helping manage stock, wastage and daily kitchen systems
Contributing ideas and supporting future menu development
Potentially taking on greater responsibility and kitchen leadership

You have previous experience working as a chef or cook
You’re reliable, efficient and calm under pressure
You take pride in the quality and presentation of every dish
You’re proactive and notice what needs to be done
You communicate well and contribute positively to a team
You care about cleanliness, organisation and consistency
You’re interested in growing with the business
