Position Overview:

PATEL FABRICATION PTY LTD - The company supplies and installs structural steel for residential construction projects and undertakes remedial and strengthening works, including structural welding and reinforcement of existing commercial structures.

As a Welder (First Class) at PATEL FABRICATION PTY LTD, you will be responsible for welding, fabricating and repairing structural steel components for residential construction and commercial strengthening works. This position requires precision welding skills, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

- Interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings and specifications to establish welding and fabrication requirements for structural steel projects.

- Select, inspect, clean and prepare steel beams, plates and other metal components for residential construction and commercial reinforcement works.

- Measure, mark out and cut steel sections and shapes using appropriate hand tools, powered equipment and thermal cutting techniques.

- Shape and prepare steel plates, brackets and strengthening components to match project drawings and site requirements.

- Position and align steel members and joint components accurately using clamps, measuring instruments and suitable workshop tools.

- Weld and join structural steel components using appropriate welding processes to produce sound connections for new installations and remedial works.





- Inspect completed welds for alignment, bead consistency, penetration and overall conformity with project specifications.

- Grind, clean and finish welded connections to achieve the required surface condition and workmanship standard.

- Assist with on-site structural steel installation, repair welding and reinforcement of existing commercial structures as required.

- Follow applicable welding procedures, safety practices and quality checks, while maintaining welding equipment and a tidy work area.

- Coordinate with workshop and site teams to sequence welding activities and complete fabrication and strengthening work to project schedules.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Relevant qualification.

- Minimum 1 year experience as a Welder (First Class)

- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings, shop drawings and welding specifications.

- Practical welding and steel preparation skills suited to structural fabrication, installation and remedial work.

- Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, weld quality and finishing standards.

- Commitment to workplace health and safety and effective teamwork across workshop and construction sites.

Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 - $90,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
