4 Healthcare Recruitment is partnering with an independent school in Melbourne’s northern suburbs to recruit a School Counsellor.

This prospect would suit a qualified counsellor who enjoys building relationships with young people and working collaboratively with families and educators. You will support students within a culturally diverse school community, helping them develop confidence, resilience and strategies to navigate everyday challenges.

The opportunity

Working within the school community, your responsibilities will include:

- Providing individual counselling and emotional support to students.
- Supporting young people experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or mental health concerns.
- Contributing to wellbeing initiatives and small-group programs.
- Working with families, teachers and relevant professionals to coordinate student support.
- Maintaining accurate case notes and responding appropriately to wellbeing and child safety concerns.
- Connecting students and families with external services where required.

About you

You will bring:





- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Counselling or Psychotherapy.
- Current registration with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or PACFA.
- At least 12 months of relevant experience supporting clients.
- Experience working with children or adolescents; school experience, including a counselling placement, will be highly regarded.
- A culturally responsive approach and the ability to build trust with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Robust communication skills, sound professional judgement and a commitment to confidentiality and child safety.
- A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
