We're looking for a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Officer to join our team at Highett. This is more than a maintenance role. Every repair completed, garden tidied, room refreshed or problem solved helps create a secure and comfortable environment for the people who call our residence home.

About the role

As our Maintenance Officer, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the residence, helping ensure everything runs smoothly for residents, visitors and staff.

Working closely with the leadership and care teams, you'll tackle a variety of maintenance tasks, coordinate contractors when needed, and help identify improvements before issues arise.

No two days are exactly the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working independently.

What you'll be doing

- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance across resident rooms, communal areas, gardens and outdoor spaces

- Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

- Undertaking preventative maintenance to keep our home safe, functional and well-presented

- Completing basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and handyman tasks

- Coordinating external contractors and monitoring works when required

- Maintaining maintenance records and supporting compliance requirements

- Assisting with the upkeep of equipment, fixtures and building infrastructure

- Promoting a safe environment for residents, visitors and team members

About you

You are someone who enjoys finding practical solutions,



takes ownership of your work and genuinely cares about maintaining a pleasant environment for others.

You'll bring:

- Experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities or property services role

- Good all-round maintenance skills and confidence using tools and equipment

- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently

- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills

- A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed

- Valuable communication skills and the ability to build respectful relationships with residents and colleagues

- Basic computer skills for recording maintenance activities

- A current Driver's Licence

Experience in aged care, healthcare, hospitality, schools or residential facilities would be highly regarded but is not essential.
