JT Fossey Trucks is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Auto Electrician to join our growing team in Tamworth.

Working with leading heavy vehicle brands including Mack, Volvo, UD Trucks and Fuso, you'll gain exposure to modern vehicle technology, advanced electrical systems and the challenges of keeping Australia's transport industry moving.

This isn't just about learning how to repair electrical faults. It's about developing the confidence, knowledge and practical skills to understand, diagnose, design and improve electrical systems.

The Role – What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside our experienced technicians, you'll progressively learn to:

- Install and integrate electrical components, accessories and specialised equipment into heavy vehicles, ensuring workmanship meets manufacturer (OEM) standards and warranty requirements.

- Diagnose electrical faults, attend vehicle breakdowns and assist with repairs, understanding the importance of getting customers back on the road quickly and safely.

- Learn how to design and develop electrical systems and customised solutions for different vehicle applications.

- Read, create and document electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.

- Identify, source and fabricate components to meet specific operational requirements.

- Work with modern vehicle electronics, diagnostic equipment and communication networks.





What You'll Learn – Skills for Your Future

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop valuable technical and practical skills, including:

- Advanced diagnostics: Identifying and repairing electrical faults using qualified diagnostic tools and testing equipment.

- Electrical systems: Understanding wiring diagrams, circuits, components and electrical schematics.

- Professional workmanship: Developing skills in wiring, soldering, crimping, terminating and electrical installations.

- Modern technology: Working with electronic control systems and vehicle communication networks, including CAN bus.

- Problem-solving: Learning to take a fault description, investigate the cause and complete a professional repair.

- Design and innovation: Creating practical solutions and fabricating components when standard parts don't suit the application.

- OEM integration: Understanding how to install aftermarket equipment without compromising manufacturer systems, safety or warranty requirements.
