About the role

Eleven Barrack, part of the Bentley Restaurant Group, is seeking a passionate and driven Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. Housed within the historic former Barrack Street Bank building in the heart of Sydney's CBD, Eleven Barrack is a contemporary seafood and steak grill inspired by the grand dining rooms of New York and Paris. Working closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation. This is an opportunity to develop your leadership skills, contribute creatively to the kitchen and work alongside an experienced team within one of Australia's most respected hospitality groups.

Key responsibilities

- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with the daily management and operation of the kitchen.

- Lead and motivate the kitchen brigade during service, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.

- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, preparation and presentation.

- Oversee mise en place, preparation and service across kitchen sections.

- Support menu development and contribute ideas for seasonal dishes.

- Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.

- Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving and minimising food wastage.

- Help manage kitchen labour and food costs through effective planning and organisation.

- Mentor and develop junior chefs and apprentices, fostering a positive and professional kitchen culture.

About you





- Previous experience in a quality restaurant environment, ideally at Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef level.

- Strong technical skills and a genuine passion for cooking.

- Experience working with premium produce, seafood and quality meats.

- A solid understanding of kitchen operations, preparation and service.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.

- A natural leader who enjoys supporting and developing others.

- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.

- A desire to grow professionally and progress within a high-performing kitchen.
