Premium Residential Development | Canberra ACT | Full-time
Take ownership of a landmark Canberra precinct, supported by a team that backs your expertise.
Civium Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Senior Building Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of one of Canberra’s most prestigious mixed-use residential communities.
This is an opportunity to combine your building operations experience, defects management capability and relationship skills in a role with real responsibility and influence. You will be the visible on-site leader, helping keep the precinct running smoothly and delivering a high standard of service for residents.
Reporting to the General Manager, Facilities, you will oversee one Concierge and work closely with residents, Owners Corporation representatives, contractors, consultants and senior stakeholders.
Your role
You will take a proactive approach to building presentation, maintenance, safety and service delivery, ensuring issues are followed through and stakeholders are kept informed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building operations: Overseeing daily operations, regular inspections, preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across common property, building services and amenities.
- Defects management: Maintaining the defects register and coordinating inspections, consultants, contractors and rectification works through to resolution.
- Stakeholder relationships: Building trust with residents and Owners Corporation representatives while managing competing priorities professionally.
- Reporting: Preparing transparent monthly reports covering maintenance, defects, compliance, risks and projects, with practical recommendations.
- Contractor and project management: Obtaining and assessing quotations, checking contractor documentation, monitoring performance and overseeing maintenance and capital works.
- Safety and compliance: Coordinating statutory servicing and inspections, maintaining records and supporting emergency preparedness and incident management.
- Concierge leadership: Providing direction, support and development to your Concierge to deliver a welcoming, professional resident experience.
You will also attend committee, annual general and stakeholder meetings as required.
What you will bring
You are organised, approachable and confident taking ownership. You can move comfortably between a plant room inspection, a contractor discussion, a committee meeting and communicate clearly in each setting.
We are looking for:
- At least five years’ relevant experience in building management, facilities management, property operations, construction, project management or a related discipline.
- Strong experience managing building defects, rectification programs or construction-related issues.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate reports and clear recommendations.
- Confidence managing sensitive issues and competing stakeholder interests with diplomacy and sound judgement.
- Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and service providers.
- A sound understanding of building services, preventative maintenance and repair programs.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and follow-through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, with the ability to learn Civium and Owners Corporation systems.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
Experience with premium residential, mixed-use, strata or large commercial properties will be highly regarded, along with relevant facilities, construction or project management qualifications. Knowledge of ACT strata and WHS requirements, and experience supervising concierge or customer service staff, will also be valuable.
Why join Civium?
You will have the autonomy to make the role your own, with experienced people behind you when you need support.
We offer:
- The opportunity to manage a recognised Canberra residential address.
- Direct support and mentoring from the General Manager, Facilities and senior leadership.
- Responsibility for meaningful operational improvements and projects.
- Professional development and career progression within a growing facilities management business.
- A mobile phone, laptop, uniform and work-related resources.
- A collaborative team that values professionalism, accountability and great service.
Ready to take the lead?
If you take pride in well-run buildings, strong relationships and seeing issues through to resolution, we would love to hear from you.
Apply with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and why this opportunity interests you.
