The Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing range of services to the twenty-three islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland. The island is 2.5 hours flight from Cairns.

This is an on-island position.

The Role:
The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for the co-ordination and Supervision of all Cleaning Programmes including Commercial cleaning services, and all Council Facilities to maintain the highest possible standard of cleanliness and hygiene while demonstrating professionalism and continuous improvement in the best interest of Council and the community.
The role will be pivotal in managing day-to-day cleaning operations, staff rosters, mentoring and training of local staff on use of equipment and cleaning best practices to meet operational requirements.

About you:
Proven experience in supervisory role within the cleaning industry




Demonstrated experience in cleaning either in commercial or residential setting including experience in completing accurate paperwork and reasonable written/verbal skills to follow directions and dedicated to secure working practices.
Experience with RMS preferred
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of corporate and other programs used by Council.
Current C Class drivers’ licence with valuable driving history and willingness to provide driving history if/when required.
Ability to work flexible hours including outside normal business hours, weekends, public holidays and when required.
