You’ve spent a few years in consulting. You can structure a problem, build a model that holds up and put together a deck that lands with a CEO. But you hand it over at the end of every engagement and never find out what happened next.
This role lets you see it through.
Our client is a national network of medical centres that is growing through acquisitions. They want a sharp, commercially minded ex-consultant to work across two areas: buying new businesses and making the existing ones run better.
Why this is a career-making role
M&A; experience is one of the most valuable things you can have on your CV. People who have actually done deals, rather than just modelled them, go on to roles in corporate development, strategy and private equity portfolio companies, and eventually into GM and executive positions. You’ll get that experience early, with real ownership.
Here you won’t be the junior member of a deal team. You’ll run the due diligence, coordinate Finance, People, Property and Legal, present to leadership, and then lead the integration once the deal completes. Most people in consulting don’t get that end-to-end view until they’re much more senior.
You’ll report directly to the GM Commercial and Operations, so the leadership team will see your work,
which means your progress depends on what you deliver, not on how long you’ve waited.
What You’ll Be Doing
When deals are live (usually up to three in the pipeline):
Running commercial due diligence on acquisition targets and presenting explicit recommendations
Coordinating input across Finance, People, Property and Legal
Project managing completion and post-acquisition integration, bringing new centres onto the group’s systems and ways of working
When they’re not:
Leading data-driven improvement work across the network: patient access, billing and revenue capture, clinician utilisation and rostering
Running pilots in selected centres, measuring results and rolling out what works
Building KPIs and reporting that show the business where it’s winning and where it isn’t
What you’ll bring
2 to 3+ years in strategy, transformation or deals consulting (Big 4, strategy boutiques or top-tier firms)
Solid Excel modelling and the ability to tell a explicit story in PowerPoint
Comfort taking a piece of work from a blank page to a finished result
Healthcare experience is a real plus, but not essential if you’re smart and curious
Willingness to travel interstate around once a month
