This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes ownership of their work area and holds the standard
Job Description
What you will do
Safety:
You'll set the safety standard in your work area — reviewing and approving SWMS, running weekly toolbox talks and ensuring every person on site goes home safely every day.
Planning:
You'll own the 4-week lookahead for your packages — sequencing trades, confirming access and materials before work starts, keeping the programme moving.
Subcontractors:
You'll coordinate trade crews day to day — pre-starts, access, sequencing and deliveries — resolving conflicts directly and escalating only where needed.
Quality:
You'll manage ITP hold points end to end — raising NCRs on the day, tracking corrective actions and keeping quality close-out moving.
Drawings:
You'll keep drawing registers current — working from the latest revision and removing superseded drawings from circulation immediately.
Visual management:
You'll own the IMS board for your work packages — keeping it current before every pre-start and using it to drive your coordination meetings.
Communication:
You'll keep your Site Manager informed with daily updates — what's been done, what's at risk and what support you need.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will need to bring
A trade qualification or solid construction supervision experience , like a Cert IV in Building and Construction
At least 3 years supervising trade crews on residential projects in Sydney
A real understanding of construction safety-SWMS, toolbox talks, hazard reporting and what zero harm actually looks like on site
The ability to read multi-discipline drawings and keep your work area running from the right revision
A track record of managing subcontractors directly - not waiting to be told, not passing problems up the chain
Confidence managing your own area - quality is your accountability
