Immaculate Conception Parish - Westernport
A great opportunity exists for an experienced Pastoral Worker and Youth Co-Ordinator to undertake our Youth and Young Peoples Ministry functions at the Westernport Parish.
This is a casual role (hours as required) reporting to the Parish Priest with a focus on building solid relationships and working collaboratively to provide support to the Parish Team and parish volunteers.
The successful applicant must be well motivated to work for the Church and ideally possess a strong commitment to its practices and values.
They must be able to recognize and respect the pastoral aspect of the Parish and an understanding of liturgy would be highly advantageous and a practising and committed Catholic
This part-time position is based generally in Hastings and surrounding area with flexibility regarding hours required to be worked.
Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and follow procedures for reporting abuse, managing risks, and ensuring workplace safety (OHS)
Ensure compliance with Catholic Diocese and Parish standards for the care and safety of children and vulnerable adults
Support and develop parish-based youth ministry
Maintain accurate, confidential, and accessible records, including WWCC and Police Check registers
Collaborate with the Parish Priest and Safeguarding Team on administrative aspects of safeguarding policies
Identify, report, and mitigate risks or hazards, including financial, site,



task, or personnel-related
Ensure youth ministry events and personnel comply with Catholic Professional Standards
Observe safe work practices and report risks to supervisors

Solid administrative skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and technology

Compassionate and respectful, especially toward those facing mental health or social challenges
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with professional boundaries

Integrity, confidentiality, life experience, and a good sense of humour
Promote Catholic values to youth, with understanding of Australian youth ministry
Maintain communication with youth, leaders, staff, and volunteers
Active in Safeguarding Committee; advocate for children and vulnerable adults
Able to work independently with initiative and manage priorities under interruptions
Passionate about young people and their role in Church and society
Develop and deliver faith-based programs; connect with local schools for outreach
Facilitate youth involvement in monthly Mass and key Parish events
