Gympie
AgSolutions Australia is a family-owned manufacturer that has been Helping Australia Grow for 37 years. From our Gympie factory we make the soil and livestock nutrition products that Australian farmers rely on, backed by a field advisor network across Queensland and NSW.
We are looking for a Maintenance Fitter who wants to be at the heart of the business: someone with real experience, high standards and the right attitude, who will help take us further.
The Role
This is not a stand-around-and-wait job. Our factory runs crushing and screening, granulation, filling and conveying equipment alongside automated bagging and palletising lines, and we plan to automate more of the process over time. We keep investing in our plant. You will keep it running, work out why things fail, and fix them properly so they stay fixed.
Carry out preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns, so production keeps moving.
Fault-find and repair automated equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery, drives, sensors and pneumatics, working with our regular electrical contractor and external specialists.
Fabricate, install and improve equipment in our fabrication workshop, and bring your ideas to engineering and improvement projects.
Own your jobs from diagnosis to proven fix, and record them in our maintenance system (UpKeep) so the next person knows.
Help build and develop our preventative maintenance program in UpKeep: asset records, PM schedules and job history that make our maintenance consistent and measurable.
Help and coach production team members who assist the maintenance team, building their hands‐on skills so we have strong backup when it matters.
Plan and prioritise your own work, with room to take on more of the maintenance planning as you prove yourself.
Who we are looking for
Skills can be sharpened. Attitude cannot be taught. The person who thrives here:
Takes pride in the detail and does the job right, even when nobody is checking.
Sees a job through to the end and speaks up early if something is not going to plan.
Is curious, asks questions when unsure and likes working out the root cause.
Is straight with people,
backs their teammates and puts safety first.
Trade qualified Maintenance Fitter (mechanical trade) or similar trade qualifications and experience.
Demonstrated experience in welding and fabrication.
A track record of reliable, high-quality work and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with production and the team.
Highly Regarded
:
Experience maintaining and fault‐finding automated equipment, including PLCs (Delta, Allen‐Bradley), servo and variable speed drives, sensors and pneumatics.
Experience with crushing, grinding and screening equipment, filling, bagging and palletising equipment, and conveyors.
Experience using a maintenance management system (CMMS) such as UpKeep, and setting up preventative maintenance schedules.
Heavy vehicle, forklift and/or loader licence.
CAD or design experience, or a knack for engineering practical improvements.
Demonstrated experience leading, training or mentoring others, including coordinating people from outside the Maintenance Team.
What is in it for you
Trust and autonomy: you are given real responsibility and the support to do it well.
Work that matters: your repairs and improvements directly lift our output and safety.
A business that invests in its plant and is automating more of its process, so you work on interesting equipment.
A pathway to lead the maintenance function for the right person, with a clear and regular pay review.
Tools and PPE supplied, overtime available on occasions, and a versatile nine‐day fortnight roster.
The stability of a long‐standing family business, with direct access to the people who make decisions.
We are looking for an immediate start, and for the right person we will work with you on your notice period.
We're an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates.
Only applicants with the legal right to work in Australia should apply.
The AgSolutions Difference
Why Choose Us?

While NPK fertilisers have delivered big yields for many years, their use can come at a cost to soil health. High levels of soluble fertiliser can have an impact on the soil microbial population and also contribute to the leaching of natural minerals from soil. (Read more).
