The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, you'll lead the strategic redesign of how events are planned, governed, delivered and evaluated across UniSC. This is a highly visible leadership role with broad institutional influence, working closely with the Executive and stakeholders across portfolios, divisions and campuses.
Rather than simply managing events, you'll create the operating model that enables them. You'll bring together governance, policy, systems, commercial opportunities and stakeholder experience into a cohesive approach that supports UniSC's strategic ambitions and delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes across the university.
For an experienced senior leader, this is a rare opportunity to leave a lasting organisational legacy. You'll have the scope to lead change at scale, influence executive decision-making and help shape how one of Australia's most agile universities engages with students, staff, industry partners and communities.
You will
lead the transformation of UniSC's events function, establishing a consistent, institution-wide approach to event planning, governance and delivery;
partner with Executive and senior leaders to embed recent frameworks, policies and ways of working that enhance stakeholder experience and support strategic priorities;
drive the effective and commercially sustainable use of UniSC's venues and facilities, balancing customer experience, institutional objectives and risk management; and
provide trusted leadership, advice and change management expertise to support complex initiatives, informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the University.
About you
You're a strategic leader who sees beyond individual events to the systems, governance and stakeholder experiences that make them successful.
You bring the confidence to influence at executive level, the judgement to navigate complex organisational environments and the ability to bring people with you through change. You understand how to balance competing priorities, manage risk and identify commercial opportunities while ensuring a positive experience for customers, partners and communities.
You will possess:
Significant experience leading complex, large-scale events programs within a higher education or similarly complex organisational environment.
Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-wide process improvement and organisational change initiatives.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives, academic leaders, industry partners and diverse stakeholders.
Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations.
Highly developed analytical, strategic problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Expertise in governance, policy development, risk management and resource management.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level reports and submissions.
A demonstrated commitment to inclusion, cultural capability, ethical practice and respectful workplace behaviours.
Don't meet every requirement? At UniSC, we understand that your work and life experiences can be just as valuable. If you're excited about this role but your CV doesn't align perfectly with our position description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or one of our many other opportunities.
UniSC is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities, women in STEM, First Nations Peoples, and individuals of diverse cultures, genders, abilities, and experiences.
