About Us:
At Landlinks, we restore, protect and improve natural and urban environments across Melbourne and Victoria. Our teams work across specialist departments including Open Space Maintenance, Ecological Restoration, Urban Forestry, Fire Mitigation and Vegetation Management, and Landscape Construction. Our Open Space Maintenance department delivers systematic care for parks, reserves, streetscapes and civic spaces, keeping public spaces safe, functional and well-presented. We combine qualified horticulturists and experienced crews with disciplined scheduling, consistent site teams and clear reporting to deliver routine maintenance, specialised programs and responsive reactive works across multiple sites. Our depot is based in Dandenong South, with projects delivered across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Role Overview:
Due to company growth, we are hiring for two positions within our Open Space Maintenance team: a Team Leader and a Senior Team Leader. Appointment to either position will depend on your experience and qualifications. Both roles involve leading a hands-on crew maintaining parks, reserves, streetscapes, playground surrounds and civic spaces. These roles suit a practical parks, gardens or horticultural maintenance professional who enjoys working outdoors, leading by example and supporting a team to deliver safe, consistent and high-quality work. You will organise daily tasks, work alongside crew members and deliver scheduled maintenance and reactive works across multiple sites. You will help build strong site knowledge, check work quality, maintain accurate visit records and communicate progress and site issues to your manager.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Leading and working alongside an Open Space Maintenance crew, allocating daily tasks and supporting team members to complete work safely and to agreed standards
- Delivering mowing, slashing, garden bed maintenance, seasonal planting, turf management, irrigation checks, landscape and facility care, and general and targeted weed control
- Following scheduled cyclical maintenance programs across parks, reserves, streetscapes, civic spaces and roadside reserves, using job management systems to track tasks and site visits
- Coordinating daily crew activities, tools, equipment and site logistics, and responding to reactive works and urgent site needs in consultation with your manager
- Recording work completed on every site visit, maintaining accurate job records and promptly reporting hazards, defects, maintenance issues and progress to your manager
- Checking site presentation, turf and garden health and completed work, addressing issues within your scope and escalating matters that need further action
- Building familiarity with assigned sites and their maintenance requirements, communicating professionally with client representatives and the public, and referring requests outside the agreed scope to your manager
- Coaching crew members, leading daily safety discussions and ensuring safe equipment operation, chemical application and appropriate traffic management controls for roadside works
About You:
You will be an experienced open space maintenance professional with practical horticultural knowledge and the confidence to lead a crew in the field. You will enjoy hands-on outdoor work, take pride in well-maintained public spaces and be comfortable working in varying weather conditions. You will be organised, communicate clearly and lead by example, helping your team follow schedules, adapt to changing priorities and maintain safe work practices. You will bring a practical approach to solving site issues and a commitment to reliable service, accurate reporting and consistent quality.
Essential requirements:
- Solid practical experience in open space maintenance, parks and gardens, horticulture, grounds maintenance or a related field
- Experience leading or supervising a field crew, allocating tasks and supporting team members on site
- Clear communication and reporting skills, including recording completed works,
site conditions, hazards and maintenance issues

- Experience delivering scheduled maintenance and responding to reactive works across multiple sites
- Practical knowledge of mowing, slashing, turf management, garden bed maintenance, seasonal planting, irrigation and integrated weed management
- Ability to organise crew tasks, tools and equipment to meet daily work priorities while maintaining safety and quality
- Ability to identify turf and garden health issues and apply appropriate maintenance practices or escalate concerns
- Understanding of maintenance standards and public-space responsibilities when working on council or other public land
- Understanding of safe chemical use, equipment operation, public safety and traffic management requirements for roadside works
- Confidence coaching team members, checking completed work and communicating professionally with clients and the community
