Sharpe® is a Queensland family-owned engineering and manufacturing company supporting customers across the resource, energy, defence and other industries.

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Machinist with strong setup and programming skills, particularly in Fanuc Manual Guide i and Mazatrol conversational programming. You’ll be able to set up jobs, develop or edit programs, prove them out and resolve machining issues—not just load parts and press cycle start.

The role

You’ll work with a range of CNC equipment, including Sharpe’s Mazak machines, producing everything from one-off components to complex parts and production batches. You’ll interpret engineering drawings, plan setups, select tooling, set work and tool offsets, program and prove out jobs, and make adjustments to achieve accurate, quality results.

What you’ll do

- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills and multi-tasking machines.
- Create and edit programs using G-Code, Fanuc Manual Guide i and Mazatrol conversational programming.
- Prove out programs, set tooling and offsets, and adjust machining processes as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and identify opportunities to improve cycle time and quality.

- Inspect completed work and record results in line with Sharpe’s quality requirements.
- Work independently and with the production team to meet job priorities.

What we’re looking for

- Solid experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
- Practical programming ability using G-Code, Fanuc Manual Guide i and Mazatrol conversational programming.
- Confidence proving out programs, adjusting offsets and resolving machining issues.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment.
- A Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade is preferred. Relevant CNC experience will also be considered.
- A team-focused approach and strong attention to detail.

Why join Sharpe?

- Work with modern CNC equipment and a broad range of interesting machining work.
- Join a growing manufacturer investing in technology and capability.
- Permanent, full time role with training and development opportunities.
- Employee Assistance Program, paid birthday leave and a $100 birthday gift.

Sharpe® has been providing engineering and manufacturing solutions since 1995. We are certified to ISO 9001 and API Spec Q1 and are committed to quality, safety, teamwork and equal employment opportunities.
