We are working with a specialised community service in Townsville seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to support an established paediatric caseload. With flexibility around contract length, travel and work arrangements, this could be a great opportunity for a Cairns-based clinician looking to FIFO to Townsville, take on a short-term contract, or consider relocating to Townsville while enjoying the flexibility to travel between North Queensland locations.

We are working with a specialised community service in Townsville seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to support an established paediatric caseload. With flexibility around contract length, travel and work arrangements, this could be a excellent opportunity for a Cairns-based clinician looking to FIFO to Townsville, take on a short-term contract, or consider relocating to Townsville while enjoying the flexibility to travel between North Queensland locations.

The Opportunity

This is a specialised Speech Pathology service with a strong focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) clients, predominantly supporting children aged 0-6 years, with some school-aged and early teen clients.

You'll work across a varied caseload, including:

- Paediatric speech and language assessment and intervention
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients and families
- Clients with complex and dual diagnoses
- First Nations families and clients, including those in remote communities
- Home, school and clinic-based services
- Telehealth for remote families
- Outreach between Townsville, Mackay and Cairns

The majority of interventions are short-term, with a strong focus on assessment, therapy programs, monitoring and supporting families rather than managing long-term caseloads.

Swallowing experience is not required - the focus is on standard speech and language skills.

Why Consider This Role?

This is a genuinely flexible opportunity. The service is open to discussing an arrangement that works for the right clinician, including:

- Short-term contracts of around 3 months, with a preference on longer
- Fixed-term employment
- Casual engagement
- FIFO options
- Permanent relocation for those looking for a longer-term move

There is a travel budget available, and relocation/accommodation assistance may be considered on a case-by-case basis for the right candidate.

Support & Professional Development

You don't need previous DHH experience to be successful in this role. You'll receive:

- Support from experienced clinical leads
- Deaf awareness training
- Professional development specifically focused on the DHH space
- $1,000 annual PD allowance
- Additional PD opportunities linked to performance
- Ongoing clinical support and capability development

The Benefits

- Above-award remuneration - permanent rates approximately $49-$58/hr, depending on experience, with casual rates of up to approximately $72/hr
- $1,000 annual PD allowance, with additional PD funding and performance incentives available
- Potential $1,000 performance bonus for hitting KPI's as well as an additional 3 days paid leave over Christmas for eligible permanent employees
- Company vehicle available in Townsville for local outreach
- Centrally located office with dedicated treatment rooms
- Established facilities available for outreach in Mackay and Cairns
- Potential relocation/accommodation assistance

About You

We're looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who can confidently step into an established caseload and work independently.

You'll ideally have:

- Current Speech Pathology Australia registration
- Previous paediatric experience
- Strong speech and language assessment and intervention skills
- Confidence working with families and other professionals
- A flexible and adaptable approach to clinical practice
- Strong communication and family engagement skills
- An interest in developing your skills within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing space

DHH experience is highly regarded but not essential - full training and clinical support will be provided.

If you've been considering a move or a change of pace, we'd love to speak with you.

We can discuss the different options available and work with you to find an arrangement that suits your circumstances.

Apply now or contact Ashley at Cornerstone Medical Recruitment for a confidential discussion.

Looking for a Speech Pathology role where you can make a genuine difference, work within a specialised service, and enjoy the lifestyle that comes with living in beautiful North Queensland?

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work with a specialised caseload, with a strong focus on Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and young people, including Auslan and deaf-specific services.

The caseload is predominantly paediatric, with some early adolescent clients, and you'll work with a well-established referral base and existing caseload.

You can expect:

- A strong volume of referrals for therapy programs
- Collaboration with the Department of Health and Department of Education
- Primarily short-term interventions and targeted therapy programs
- Minimal NDIS involvement and limited long-term case management
- Opportunities to provide outreach services across regional North Queensland
- Collaboration with experienced Allied Health Assistants and a multidisciplinary team

This role would suit a clinician who enjoys variety, collaboration and specialised practice, and who is confident stepping into an existing caseload.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who has:

- Relevant Speech Pathology qualifications and professional registration
- Previous clinical experience - this role is not suited to a new graduate
- The confidence to independently manage an established caseload

- An interest in working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary practice
- A willingness to travel for occasional outreach to Cairns and Mackay

Experience with Auslan or deaf-specific services would be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right clinician.

What's on Offer?

- Up to $110,000 + Super, dependent on experience
- Potential relocation assistance to help you make the move to Townsville
- A team that invest in your success, with professional development support & training

Why Townsville?

Townsville offers the perfect balance of career opportunity and lifestyle. With tropical weather, beautiful beaches, easy access to Magnetic Island and a relaxed North Queensland lifestyle, you can enjoy everything from weekend island escapes and outdoor adventures to a vibrant local community - without the pace and cost of a major capital city.

If you're an experienced Speech Pathologist looking for a role where you can build on your clinical skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today, or contact Ashley Stephens for a confidential discussion.
